These three blog posts will give tips and advice for your litter box needs done in a question and answer style.
Where Should I Put The Litter Box So Kitty Will Use It?
Cats like a little privacy like we do so try a semi-enclosed space like a furnace room. This is an out-of-the-way place with a concrete floor or tiled floor so accidents only happen on such a floor. If a furnace room is not available, look for another secluded spot and put a sheet of plastic sticking out from under the box by about four inches around to prevent accidents from bums hanging out over the edge.
How Many Litter Boxes Should I Have & How Often Should I Clean Them?
With non-clumping litter, clean the box at least once a week. With clumping cat litter, scoop out kitty’s “treasures” – as my mom likes to call them – everyday, putting them into a plastic bag, perhaps in a pail, and twist the bag shut and put the cover on the pail to keep the odor down. If you have more than one cat, have one box per cat and clean daily. Use your own judgment when replacing the entire litter box of clumping litter. I find when the box is getting dirty I clean it. Some people do it weekly, monthly or even every three to six months. You decide.
